My cheeks hurt from playing and then talking about this game! Butterfly Soup is our first game discussion for the month of June, and I can't think of a better way to kick off Pride.
Yes, this game has representation on a variety of levels.
Yes, this game deftly handles challenging relationship issues between friends and family.

But also?

This is one of the funniest and most joyful games that I've ever had the pleasure to play. The jokes, the references, and the pranks all feel real - like conversations I've had with my friends - and I hope that as you listen to the discussion, you get to relieve that delight (because we sure did!)
Listen to the episode on YouTube, Spotify, or Apple Podcasts!
As a reminder, for the month of June, we'll be doing something a bit different, just to keep things light and breezy during the summertime as folks are more out and about.
We're doing one game a week, each week focusing on a short title -- about 3-4 hours or less -- celebrating queer characters and teams!
Our second game is also FREE.99 (of course, you can also contribute to the developer when downloading via Itch, if you have the means). And yes, like last week's title, please note, it's only available via Itch.io!
Below is the playthrough guide for the game, which includes the full month's schedule of titles, links to find each game, some kick off reflection questions, and more ~

This leads me to the reflection question for the week ~
Share your response by writing back to this message, submit a voice recording to be included in next week's episode, share in the community Discord, or simply ponder as you play. Of course, if you have other thoughts on the game you'd like to share not related to the question, please do so!
Supplementary recs to expand on what we're playing this week~
It's summer showcase time! I figured it'd maybe be helpful to have a list to what's happening, when, and where, in case you'd like to have a peek at some of the upcoming indie showcases. All times are PT.
Next week: Steam Next Fest
βIf you hop into the Discord, we've got a thread for demo recommendations ready -- hope to see you in there!

Two titles that I'm keeping an eye on, and that may be worth picking up if you'd like something new to enjoy!
Stay in the loop -- listen to the weekly podcast on Spotify and Apple, hang with the community in Discord, and find us on Instagram!
Thanks for joining our digital cafΓ© this week -- talk soon!

this week's brew π§Deep diving Kentucky Route Zero Listen to the latest discussion, out now on YouTube and wherever you listen to your podcasts! Katie and I had an absolute blast talking about Kentucky Route Zero -- it honestly felt like a slumber party, chock full of giggles, jaw-dropping realizations, and shared stories. I hope you have fun listening to it as much as we had recording. We begin with how KRZ draws from the tradition of the katabasis: stories that take you through an underworld...
this week's brew π§what we discussed in this week's episode! This month, we're joined by Katie to talk about Kentucky Route Zero! Before I hop into the usual newsletter musings ~ I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your patience and flexibility. The end of January and this first half of February has been a particularly challenging one, with the loss of a friend and then of my dear cat, Rosie (who many of you have seen over the last years on videos, streams, and even in this...
this week's brew π§what we discussed in this week's episode! The Pastry Case: Our grab-bag of news + media we're engaging with outside of our game of the month. Introducing Chris! Every month, we're joined with another voice from the industry, and this January, we've got the incredible Chris (they/them) of Honest Indies adding their insights to the games to keep an eye on for 2026 as well as their reflections on Gas Station Story. (Some of our) Most Anticipated Games of 2026: We talk through...
