this week's brew π§
|
I've returned from a quick work trip (visiting the beautiful Olso and Copenhagen!) and am beyond excited to share this week's episode with you all!
β
Kate and Emily -- co-founders of No Small Games -- are folks I've been wanting to collaborate with for a while. They also have a podcast where they cover both individual indie games in deep dive episodes as well as through curated round-ups each month! So, it's only fitting that we kick off some time with them by talking through some of our most anticipated indies for the month of September.

The second half of our discussion was to prime ourselves for the deep dive into this month's brew: Chants of Sennaar. I chose this game because of it's short(ish) runtime, striking art style, and unique puzzles that'll have us thinking about language, meaning, and communication.
β
The deep dive podcast releases on September 23rd ~ and we'll have our community hangout to discuss it together in-person on September 27th. Find all the details and schedule for this month in the playthrough guide:

Share your response by writing back to this message, submit a voice recording to be included in next week's episode, share in the community Discord, or simply ponder as you play. Of course, if you have other thoughts on the game you'd like to share not related to the question, please do so!
Supplementary books, articles, games, and resources to expand on what we're playing this month ~

this week's brew π§what we played this week + supplementary materials to help you dig deeper. Our I Was A Teenage Exocolonist discussion is out now on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts! This episode probably had the most epic difference of experience between myself and Joel in (I think) all of the games we've played together so far (you'll know what it is when we start taking about the card game mechanics). π€£π And what a kickoff to the game discussion it is! I Was A Teenage Exocolonist was...
this week's brew π§what we played this week + supplementary materials to help you dig deeper. In todayβs episode of Geeks & Grounds, weβre piloting a new format! With the shift to bi-weekly episodes, Iβve decided the first episode of the month is meant to both provide a more dedicated space to highlight the guests co-hosts come to the show, allow us to chat about industry topics, and highlight upcoming indie games ~ without having to take up too much time on our second monthly episode, where...
this week's brew π§what we played this week + supplementary materials to help you dig deeper. Everyone loves a mini-game, right? I've already admitted that picking Deltarune for this month was a very self-indulgent choice, as it's one of my favorite games at the moment, even in its work-in-progress state. And the two chapters that we'll discuss these next couple weeks have solidified it even further as an all-time favorite - no point in burying the lede here - so I'm VERY excited to discuss it...
